about

"Eclipse is my favorite song to play. We liked the idea of having breakdown-like verse's. It was also in our intention to have a song with less clean singing than we are used to. It is the newest song after Epiphany and also shows the direction we'd probably want to head. Expect to hear songs with no clean vocals at all in the future.
The cool thing, concerning the names "Eclipse", "Epiphany" and "Penumbra" is that the album starts with enlightenment and ends with darkening, making the album as a whole a semi-shadow (Called Penumbra in physics).

Lyrical Meaning:
The lyrics are a bit personal again. There were a lot of moments in my life (still are) where I can't really point out who I am and what kind of person I am. The text shows that exact feeling of trying to be part something you don't know you belong to."

Harvey

lyrics

Lyrics:

I have come…
…to convince myself that there must be more to this world,
Something big, but how are we supposed to find it?
If my inner conviction blocks my lust for curiosity,
Then I must find a place to find myself so I

Crossed the oceans,
Climbed the mountains,
Explored places never found before.

But all my journeys never helped me to find my goal,
So I’m forced to put on this ridiculous mask.
I become a part of a bigger group, but where is myself?
Is this the big thing I have been looking for forever?

I give myself the explanation that I
Have to stop following and start leading.

I have come to realize that the big thing that I am looking for
Has been waiting for me in front of my eyes the entire time.

I eclipse my surroundings, I try to focus on myself again,
There’s a torch inside me, that would help me break out of my conviction.

Even though I tried so hard to ignite the fire again,
Even though I tried so hard I failed again.

So I’m stuck again
Right where I left off.
