Unity, Resistance

about

"The catchy melody of this song Maurice is playing with delay was written by our former bass-player Kevin. The song was at first constructed as a more punk-ish song (as the lyrics might suggest), but we found that it would be much more powerful as it is right now. I like to think that it marks an important milestone in our career, as it is the first song where Maurice and Christian kind of share the lead role. That is definitely the direction I'd like to see this band grow. Actually Maurice was screaming along side with Jörn in this song at the beginning and I was playing Maurice' guitar, but we realized soon enough, that the bass plays a too important role in this song.

Lyrical Meaning:
The text is leaning towards the anti-war direction. I wanted to direct this song to politicians who – unfortunately – like to lean back and watch, rather than pulling some strings. More than it should be legal people are being sent to war against their will and they either return missing a leg or they die on the battlegrounds. I don't really think that it's a human's dignity's worth to throw away your life, to either take someone else's or to have it taken from you.
I also want to point out that the line "Mister President" isn't directed to a specific president. It's used as a generalizing metaphor of the government-heads."

lyrics

Lyrics:

This world is no place for us!
All I breathe are the ashes of burnt...
...bodies!

This is our last war
But we‘re not even fighting
This is our last chance
This world is no place for us!

I walk along this blood stained street.
I stand alone on the battlefield.
Forever young and always silent.
Forever still and non-aware of anything.
Everything is motionless!

Oooh. I still believe (I still believe)
This world is yet to be saved.

This keeps getting on your mind,
Mister President, I know it.
Take a look through the window
Of opportunities.

This what you’re responsible for,
This is your job
You sit in your fancy office
While we all suffer

I walk along this blood stained street.
I stand alone on the battlefield.
Forever young and always silent.
Forever still and non-aware of anything.
Everything is motionless!

We shall unite,
We shall resist!
